DORCAS CAKE (OLD-TIME) 
1 box raisins
2 c. water
1 c. cold water
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1/2 c. lard
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Boil raisins in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Stir well. Add 1 cup chopped walnuts. Grease a large tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until a broom straw stuck in the cake comes out clean. A caramel icing may be used if desired.
