OLD TIME OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs

Pour boiling water over oats, set aside. Sift flour with soda, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder, cream the butter. Gradually add the sugars. Blend. Add eggs, one at a time, beat until fluffy. Stir in oats, flour and blend. Pour into 9 inch square pan which has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees, 40 minutes, add topping.

BROILED COCONUT TOPPING:

1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients. Spread on cooked cake. Place under broiler 2 to 3 minutes or until topping is brown.
