1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. applesauce
1/4 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
6 oz. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, sift flour and spices together. Add flour and applesauce alternately with creamed mixture. Stir in raisins, nuts, and half of chocolate chips. Pour into greased loaf pans and pour rest of chocolate chips over top. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. Wrap in foil and refrigerate overnight. Makes 4 small loaves.
