1 stick butter
1 can applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Melt butter. Add applesauce and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Put in greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. To make in bundt pan, double the above.
