MOM'S SEEDED BISCUITS | |
2 c. all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tbsp. anise seeds 3/4 c. butter 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. buttermilk Dash salt Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar and anise seeds. Cut in butter until mix resembles coarse crumbs. With fork, stir in buttermilk to make a soft dough. Put on lightly floured board. Knead dough about 10 times to form a smooth ball. Be careful not to over knead. Cut dough into 3 portions. Roll or pat gently to form a ball 1" thick. Put ball on cooking sheet and pat into a circle. Cut dough into 4 portions, but DO NOT SEPARATE. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Makes 12. Best served hot. |
