BOHEMIAN POPPY SEED BISCUITS
2 c. milk
2 cakes yeast
3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
4 tbsp. melted lard
2 tsp. salt
Pinch of nutmeg

Dissolve yeast in warm milk, add a little of the sugar and enough flour to make a batter. Beat well and let rise until light. Add all the other ingredients and add enough flour to make a soft dough. Beat well. Place in a greased bowl and let rise double.

Make into small balls and let rise again. Flatten out each ball of dough and add desired filling. Close dough and pinch tight to seal with closed side down and let rise again.

When light, place carefully into hot lard 350 and brown on all sides. Remove and drain and dust with sugar. Or instead of using lard, put the filled dough ball in baking pan and bake as rolls. Either prune or poppy seed filling is best.
