CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2/3 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 1/2 c. Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts if you like
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 oz. semi-sweet or milk chocolate chopped in pieces

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Mix both sugars, butter and egg in large bowl, with wooden spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. (Dough will be stiff.) Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

4. Bake until light brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Let cookies cool slightly, then remove from cookie sheet with a spatula. Makes about 24 cookies.
