OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. quick cooking oats
2 eggs
1 stick butter
1 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

In a large bowl, put oats, butter and boiling water. Cover and let stand until cool. Add white and brown sugars, then beaten eggs. Sift flour and other dry ingredients. Combine all. Put in well greased and floured pan, (either three 8 inch layers or 9 x 13 inch). Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

OATMEAL CAKE TOPPING:

6 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 c. pecans
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. coconut

Mix well and spread on hot cake. Put under broiler until lightly brown, approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Check very often, burns quickly.
