3 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 c. unsweetened applesauce
4 tsp. baking soda
2 c. white raisins, chopped
2 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. chopped dates
3 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix well. Line tube pan with greased wax paper. Bake 2 1/2 hours in a slow oven with a pan of water under the cake. Remove water. Bake 30 minutes longer.
