MOM'S APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
2 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. unsweetened applesauce
2 c. raisins (or chopped dates)
2 c. nuts, chopped

Cream Crisco and sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with applesauce. Fold in raisins and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees in greased and floured tube or bundt pan for 55 to 60 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
