Try out my style to the recipe if you'd like another kick.

We kept to the sweetness of it and went with...

Italian meatballs
1 bottle Sweet baby rays BBQ Sauce.
1/2 Bottle grape jelly 1/2 bottle blackberry jelly (1 of each for bigger batches)
2 table spoons Frenches Honey mustard
1 can sauerkraut. (2 for bigger batches)

Throw in slow cooker for 3 hours. They are absolutely fantastic and the sourkraut adds texture where needed. My family loves it when i add egg noodles to the recipe as well. Just throw in 1 bag egg noodles the last 30 minutes into the crock pot. Now you have a meal!

Another Variation is to use salsa instead of chili sauce, and serve with rice. Good stuff!

My family has been making these for as long as I can remember using fresh made or frozen meatballs depending on circumstances, but always cooked before adding to mixture. The only thing we do different is we dissolve a handful of ginger snaps in the sauce mix before we add the meatballs. It thickens the sauce and adds another more depth to the flavor.

Try using orange or apricot marmalade in place of the grape jam. Also very good!

I've also made this recipe for years, but i add a tbsp of green tabasco sauce to give it some spice, haven't tried mustard but i'm making them for a halloween party so i'll give it a whirl. Try cooking the meatballs in the oven though, makes them crisper and i think for some reason cooking it in the oven adds flavor. I cook in the crock pot for 3 hours on low/medium before serving...always a hit
