FIG CAKE 
2 c. self-rising flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cooking oil
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. fig preserves
1 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

FOR SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. white Karo syrup
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix flour, sugar, oil and eggs well. Add buttermilk, figs, nuts, flavoring, mixing well. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.

SAUCE: Mix all ingredients and boil 3 minutes. Pour over cake.
