FIG CAKE 
2 c. self rising flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
1 c. fig preserves
1 c. buttermilk

Mix flour and sugar. Add oil, eggs, buttermilk and fig preserves. Mix well and add nuts and vanilla. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

SAUCE:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. corn syrup
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk

Boil for 3 minutes. Spread on cake while warm.
