1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. shortening
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cups water

Sift together flour, salt, cocoa, baking powder and sugar. Stir in shortening and milk. Spread in an greased 8x8-inch pan, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cocoa.

Pour water over all and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
