EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

Easiest & Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce

This recipe is a heart attack waiting to happen, and it shocks me that this is the sort of food you would eat once a week. There are genuine Alfredo recipes with less saturated fat and less cholesterol out there, that only take a few more minutes and are just as easy - I've even taught my ten year old how to make a basic cheese sauce. I would be ashamed to feed this to my family, no matter how good it tasted.

The first time I made this I used Blue Bonnet stick butter in the recipe, I prepared a double batch of the sauce and poured it over a bag of Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini, a bag of brocolli crowns and three pieces of grilled chicken diced. IT WAS FABULOUS! I plan to post a recipe for Irvin here soon :)

Tonight I'm making the sauce again and plan to pour over fettuccini and grilled chicken strips :)

just tried recipe for first time and I gotta say, this is the best sauce I have ever had. Even tops the sauce I get at our favorite italian restuarant.

To those of you speaking negatively on this recipe either alfredo is not for you or you don't know how to cook properly. Cooked this last night and not ONLY did I not taste the cream cheese, but I also used 2% milk. My fiancé is not a fan of alfredo sauce and ate 2 plates of this sauce with pasta, broccoli and shrimp. Instant fave! Thank you for sharing!

Amazing. My husband cut a loaf of crusty bread in half, then topped the "doughy" side with cooked shrimp and the garlic alfredo sauce. Simply amazing. I could have eaten the entire thing. I'm sure its not healthy but totally worth every single calorie!

This is DELICIOUS on spiral-type noodles with brocolli and chicken (and sometimes even a little spinach added to the sauce.) Then its really a whole meal with your protein and veggies!
Yum Yum!

I think this has way too much cream cheese. I suppose if you love cream cheese you would love this recipe. I would cut the amount of cream cheese in half.

I just made this sauce (I'm testing different alfredo recipes this week) and it isn't a true alfredo sauce, it's more of a cream sauce. Before I offer my opinion, I just want to say that this is a tasty sauce, and if I were on a budget I would make it again.

First of all, if you're making it for a girl, don't make it for the diet-conscious type. The cup of half and half and 1/2 cup of butter would horrify her.

Second, the cream cheese completely obscured the parmesan. If you're on a budget, you can buy cheap pre-shredded parmesan and get away with it. I recommend adding more cheese if you're looking for more flavor. However, it was a total waste of the expensive Parmagiano Reggiano I put in the sauce.

That being said, it was still a good creamy sauce that I will probably make again. But a true alfredo sauce, it just doesn't fit the bill.

I really felt that the tablespoon of garlic was very overpowering and took away from the cheese flavor. Next time I will use 1 or 2 tsp. instead. But to each their own.
