CRACKED SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (1/2 butter - 1/2 Crisco)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract

Cream sugar, shortening, egg yolks and flavoring. Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Chill several hours. Roll in balls size of walnut and then roll in sugar. Bake at 325-350 degrees on the 3rd rack.
