SCALLOPED CABBAGE 
1/2 head cabbage
1 1/2 c. white sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 tsp. salt

Soak and wash cabbage in salted water. Then boil cabbage. Allow to cool and cut fine. Into a well greased baking dish put a layer of cabbage (seasoned with salt and pepper), a layer of white sauce and continue making layers until all of the ingredients are used. Put well buttered bread crumbs over top of mixture. Bake covered until the mixture is bubbling hot. Then remove, cover and brown.

WHITE SAUCE:

1 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour, stirring until mixture becomes foamy, but not brown. Add milk. Stir until thickened.
