BRENNAS BEST BANANA BREAD 
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp./ salt
1/3 c. Crisco
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed bananas

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Sift together first 4 ingredients. Cream Crisco and sugar until fluffy and creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Add flour mixture and bananas alternately, beating smooth after each addition. Pour into loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until done.

A few years ago I lost my favorite banana bread recipe, one that was my mother's (who passed away when I was 13) so I turned to google, searching for a recipe that used Crisco. When I found this recipe it looked close enough (based on my memory of the recipe) that I thought I'd give it a try. Whether the recipe is the same or not, I can't say, but the taste and texture were spot on, and evoked memories of me and my mom in the kitchen... I added walnuts, which is how my mom always made it. GREAT banana bread! just like Mom used to make.
