BRAN APPLE CRISP | |
Dessert doesn't have to be sinful. You can satisfy your sweet tooth while getting the healthful benefits of bran and apples. This tasty dessert dish combines a crunchy topping with a cinnamon-apple filling. 1 c. Kellogg's All Bran cereal 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 c. butter 6 c. sliced, unpeeled baking apples 1/4 c. granulated sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Plain, low-fat yogurt (optional) 1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. 2. In medium size mixing bowl combine cereal, flour and brown sugar. With pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside. 3. Mix together apples, granulated sugar and cinnamon. Place in shallow, 2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle cereal mixture evenly over apples. 4. Bake about 45 minutes or until apples are tender and cereal mixture has browned. 5. Serve warm with a dollop of plain yogurt if desired. Serves 8. |
