AMERICAN FRENCH TOAST 
1 loaf uncut white bread
6 eggs
1/4 c. sugar
2 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
4-5 tbsp. butter
Confectioners' sugar & preserves for topping

Cut 8 3/4" slices from bread. Cut in half diagonally. Lay in single layer in shallow baking dish.

Beat together thoroughly eggs, sugar, milk, vanilla, salt and cinnamon. Pour over bread. Turn to coat both sides. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

When ready to serve, heat butter in skillet. Cook toast in skillet over low 4 to 5 minutes. Serve with confectioners' sugar. Makes 8 servings.
