BASIC FRENCH TOAST 
1 egg
2 1/2 tbsp. milk
4 slices day old bread
Butter

With fork in a shallow dish, beat together eggs and milk until well blended. One slice at a time, soak bread in egg mixture, letting stand for about 1 minute. In skillet over high heat, heat butter until just hot enough to sizzle a drop of water. Place soaked bread in hot pan. Reduce heat to medium and cook on both sides until lightly browned. Serve immediately with syrup, jelly or fruit. After slices have been cooked, they may be placed in plastic bags and FROZEN. They will keep for 3 months in the freezer. Reheat them in the oven or a skillet and serve hot.
