1 1/2 c. sugar
2 lg. tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. applesauce
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream sugar and shortening. Add 2 eggs; beat well. Stir baking soda into applesauce and add. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon and cloves; add to first mixture. Add raisins and chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
