CANDIED YAM SAUCE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 to 1/4 stick butter
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
Nutmeg to taste

Cook in pan on stove until bubbling, then add vanilla and nutmeg. Simmer on low 15 minutes. Pour over sweet potatoes (I use the yams that are found in the meat department - yam patties) and cook until tender, 10 minutes.
