JAMIL'S CABBAGE ROLLS | |
1 head cabbage FILLING: 1 lb. ground beef 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste 1/2 tsp. allspice 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt Pepper 1/2 c. water 1/2 c. rice, uncooked SAUCE: 4 c. chicken broth (preferably with chicken pieces) 1 c. tomato paste Salt Pepper Allspice Cinnamon Steam or otherwise soften cabbage leaves so they will be flexible to roll up. Filling: Combine all ingredients together. Place small amount in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll up. Sauce: In Dutch oven combine all ingredients. Place rolled cabbage leaves in sauce. Cover with a plate to hold them down in the sauce. Simmer for 45 minutes. Note: Leave chicken pieces in broth to hold the cabbage rolls off bottom of pan. |
