APPLE PIE & CRUST 
Pie Crust:

1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. plus 1 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. water

Cut in flour, salt and shortening. Add water and mix by hand. Roll out crust.

Filling:

1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
Dash of salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Slice apples thinly and put in a large bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix with a spoon. Place in crust.

Topping:

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, softened

Sprinkle topping over the apples in the pie crust. Put the pie in a brown paper bag and staple shut.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
