SURPRISE APPLE PIE
1 unbaked Spry Pie Shell
6 apples, sliced thin
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tbsp. Spry
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. nuts, cut

Fill pie shell with sliced apples. Mix granulated sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Sprinkle over apples. Mix brown sugar and flour. Cut in Spry and butter until mixture is like meal. Add nuts and mix. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees for 1 hour.

SPRY PIE SHELL:

1 1/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
7 tbsp. Spry
3 tbsp. cold water (about)

Sift flour and salt together. Add 1/2 of Spry and cut in until mixture is as fine as meal. (Quickly done with triple-creamed Spry.) Add remaining Spry and continue cutting until particles are size of large peas. (Make all your pastry this easy Spry way - see how tender, flaky.) Sprinkle water gradually over mixture. With a fork, work lightly together until a dough is formed. Roll 1/8" thick. Place dough in 9" pan and let relax 5 minutes. Pat with ball of dough to fit pastry into pan. Trim pastry 1" larger than pan and turn back edge. Flute rim.
