KRINGLER (PASTRY) | |
1 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1-2 tbsp. water 1 c. water 1/2 c. butter 1 c. flour 3 eggs 1/2 tsp. almond extract Mix first three ingredients - flour, butter and water - like pie crust. Put on cookie sheet in 2 long strips 3 inches wide. Put 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter in saucepan. Heat to boiling as you take from heat, add 1 cup flour and stir until smooth. Stir in 3 eggs, one at a time, and beat after each. Add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Spread on top of the two 3 inch wide strips. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. When cool, top with toasted slivered almonds (if desired) and frost. FROSTING: 1 c. powdered sugar 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. almond extract Whipping cream |
