NORSKE KRINGLER 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 well beaten egg
1 c. buttermilk
3 1/4 c. white flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar, brown sugar and shortening. Add remaining ingredients. Refrigerate overnight. On floured surface, roll until slender log shape. Cut off 1/2" to 3/4" pieces. Roll gently to pencil size, shape into knot or twist. Place on greased cookie sheet, and bake at 375 to 400 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.
