3/4 c. butter 4 tbsp. powdered sugar 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. cold water 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1/8 tsp. salt 1 c. finely chopped pecans or walnuts Powdered sugar Cream butter until fluffy, then add sugar, vanilla and cold water. Mix thoroughly and stir in flour, salt and nuts. Shape into a roll about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Cut in 1/4 inch slices and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from baking sheet and roll in powdered sugar, if desired. Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies. (These may be made into small balls also and baked for about 8 to 10 minutes. They should be rolled in sugar the same as the others.) |
