I add grated cheese on top of meat and soup. I then crumble fried onions on top along with the tots. I also use chicken instead of beef for a good change. I cook the chicken in a little olive oil and then cube it.

Original recipe with undiluted soup has been used in our home for 20 years. I just recently added a layer of mozzarella between the soup and the tater tots. It's one of the few recipe's that Dad can please both kids with.

My version is to add a jalapeno in with the meat and onion. Layer the meat mixture with some drained mexicorn. Top with cream of cheddar soup mixed with a 1/2 can of rotel (drained). Then the tots. Right before I pull it out of the oven I top it with cheese. I love my cheese!

Mom made this all the time for us when I was younger. She used Cream of Mushroom instead if Cream of Celery and covered it with Velveeta or American cheese.

I put shredded cheese on after the soup, then some on top of the Tater Tots about 5-10 min. before it comes out.

Also you could add shredded cheese. I prefer Cheddar but I am sure most can mix and match. Just put it on top of the tater tots before sticking it in the oven. Its amazing!!

I make this in a deep baking dish and layer with french green beans. I pour the juice from the green beans over the top to make it extra moist. Also I add vegetarian chicken instead of beef.... And just layer until you reach the top. Great comfort food and not too unhealthy. No cheese is always a good thing!

I don't make this as a casserole as suggested. I cook the tots in the oven as directed, maybe a little over done. As the tots are browning, I brown the hamburger adding a little salt, garlic powder and pepper, drain. Return to the skillet and add 1 large can of mushroom soup and a half can of whole milk to the beef, stir until smooth. When the tots are done and crunchy, put them in a large bowl and top with the beef and soup mixture. Stir with a big spoon from the bottom up and mix semi well. Let stand for a few minutes to let the flavor soak in. Real supper easy and fast. Plus a lot less clean up.

I can't have regular cream soups so after a few attempts came up with an alternative that my husband and I both love. Brown the beef with taco seasoning, place in the bottom of the pan, cover with salsa, corn, cheese and tator tots. We wouldn't eat it any other way now.

A classic recipe that can be modified many ways and still be great! I have substituted cooked chicken tenders (chopped) and frozen peas with cream of mushroom soup and 2 dollops of sour cream. Another variation was using a cheese sauce, ground beef and dill pickle relish. Endless possibilities! Love to be creative!

There are 5 of us, so I use 2 lbs of ground beef, the whole bag of tots, 2 cans of soup, corn or peas in the middle. I don't cover it in the over and I finish it off with a can of crunchy onion rings on the top of the tatertots... that was the best!

I remember cooking this with my mom when I was growing up. Now my kids love to cook it with me. I chop the onion very fine and add string bean, corn, and sliced carrot to the meat. Mix it all together then layer Campbells mushroom soup then layer the tater tot's. Lastly, I add a layer of cheese... Always a winner and a time saver!!!
