“FRIJOLES (PUERTO RICAN STYLE)” IS IN:

FRIJOLES (PUERTO RICAN STYLE) 
1 large can pinto or small red beans
1 cup diced ham
2 cups chicken or beef broth
1 can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon garlic chopped
salt and pepper, to taste
1 packet sazon goya
9 olives with some juice
2 tablespoons sofrito

In a pot, add olive oil and garlic and sautee for 20 seconds. Add ham and brown for 2 minutes. Add sofrito, olives, tomato sauce, seasonings and broth and simmer for 5 minutes. Add beans and stir. Simmer for 30 minutes.

If beans are watery, Turn up heat 1 minute before done and let come to a quick boil while stirring occasionally. This will thicken the beans. Let sit for 10 minutes away from oven before serving. Serve with white rice.
