SCOTCH COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. shortening
3 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp. molasses
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. mace
1 tbsp. baking soda
5 to 6 c. flour

Roll, cut with large round cutter or shape into rolls. Chill and cut like refrigerator cookies. Moisten tops with beaten egg and bake at 350 degrees.
