TWINKIE CAKE | |
1 yellow cake mix 1 tsp. vanilla FILLING: 5 tbsp. flour 1 c. milk 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. Crisco 1/2 tsp. salt Bake cake mix according to box directions in a 9 x 13 pan. Cool (freezing the cake will make it easier to cut). Cut lengthwise to make 2 equal layers. Spread filling between layers. FILLING: Mix flour and milk in saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until it becomes very thick and pasty. Cool very well. Beat sugar and butter. Add Crisco, salt, and vanilla. Beat until fluffy again (make sure it is not grainy). Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of cake. |
