BEST SUGAR COOKIES EVER 
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups Swans Down cake flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Cream butter and sugars; beat one minute. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Slowly add cake flour and baking soda, then vanilla. Beat well for three minutes.

Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes.

These are drop only cookies. They can not be rolled out and cut.

Actually, this cookie recipe can be rolled out. You have to refrigerate the dough and then roll it out between parchment paper. Re-refrigerate and cut out with your choice of cutters. Re-refrigerate to make the cookie transfer to the sheet easier. It's a lot of steps but is well-worth it. These cookies are great plain and even better with frosting...

I always look to try new recipes and just went ahead and tried this one. The name is sort of misleading as I think it should be called brown sugar cookie. It's really the tollhouse cookie recipe without the chocolate chips... not at all what I was expecting so I ended up adding chocolate chips and made a pan of bar cookies... my bad for not really thinking about it beforehand.
