APPLE BREAD | |
1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 c. chopped apples (about 4 medium) 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. cinnamon Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour loaf pan. Mix 1 c. sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until smooth. Stir in apples and nuts. spread in pan. Mix 1 Tbsp. sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean; It takes about 50-60 minutes. Immediately remove from pan; cool bread completely before slicing. Store tightly covered. |
