CHOCOLATE CHIP BAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter (butter)
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tbsp. butter
Dash of salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Cream butter, sugar and brown sugar. Beat in egg yolks and 1 tablespoon water. Sift in dry ingredients. Press into 11 x 15 inch pan. Sprinkle nuts and chips over this. Beat 2 egg whites until stiff. Add second cup of brown sugar gradually and beating well after each addition. Pour this meringue over nuts and chips. Bake about 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
