LOAFING BURGER 
1 loaf French or Italian bread (about 12" long)
1 c. bread crumbs
1 env. instant onion soup mix
6 tbsp. beer
1 lb. ground beef
1 env. instant tomato soup mix
4 oz. processed cheese spread
1 c. sliced mushrooms
Green & red bell pepper, cut into rings

Cut bread in half lengthwise, almost completely through. Hollow out center of each half, leaving 1/4" shell. Crumble enough bread to equal 1 cup crumbs; set aside.

In medium bowl, blend instant onion soup mix with beer; reserve 2 tablespoons mixture. Combine remaining beer mixture, bread crumbs, ground beef and instant tomato soup mix; shape into 12x2 inch rectangle. Grill or broil until done.

Meanwhile, in small saucepan, combine reserved beer mixture with cheese. Heat, stirring frequently, until cheese is melted. To serve, place burger in hollowed out bread shell; spoon cheese sauce over burger; top with mushrooms. Garnish, if desired, with pepper rings.

Makes 4 servings.
