CHEESE STRATA
12 slices white bread
3/4 lb. sharp process American cheese, sliced (or Velveeta)
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, cooked and drained
2 c. finely diced cooked or canned ham
6 slightly beaten eggs
3 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. instant minced onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. dry mustard

Nicer edges if you use frozen bread.

Cut 12 "doughnuts and holes" from bread. Fit the scraps of bread (top crusts removed) in bottom of 12 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Place cheese in a layer over bread; add a layer of broccoli then ham. Arrange bread "doughnuts and hole" on top.

Combine remaining ingredients; pour over bread and all. Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 55 minutes. For a pretty finish, sprinkle with shredded cheese 5 minutes before end of baking time. Let stand 10 minutes to firm before cutting. Makes 12 servings.
