PICKLED CUCUMBERS 
8-10 cucumbers
1 c. coarse salt
2 qts. water
3 c. vinegar
3 tbsp. pickling spice
3 c. sugar
1 qt. water
Alum

Wash cucumbers. Dissolve salt in two quarts hot water, soak cucumbers overnight. Drain and rinse.

Combine vinegar, pickling salt, and sugar. Heat in one quart water until it boils. Fill jars 3/4 full with cucumbers. Add water until it covers cucumbers. Put 1 lump of alum in each jar. Cover jars.
