SHERRY'S CALIFORNIA BURGERS | |
2 avocados, halved, pitted, peeled, and coarsely chopped 1/2 small diced onion 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced Kosher salt and pepper, to taste 1-1/2 lbs ground lean beef or turkey 1-1/2 tbsp. canola oil 4 slices reduced-fat Monterey Jack cheese 4 hamburger buns, split, toasted 1 small bunch watercress 8 slices large tomato Divide meat or turkey into 4 equal portions. In a bowl, combine avocado, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, salt and pepper. Form meat portions into 3/4-inch thick burgers. Make deep depressions in center of each burger with thumb. Season with salt and pepper. Heat grill or heat oil in pan. Add burgers to grill or pan. Cook until slightly charred on bottom 3-5 minutes. Flip over, cook 5-8 minutes more. Top with cheese during the last minute of cooking time. Place burgers on buns, top with watercress, tomato, avocado and bun top. Submitted by: Sherry Monfils |
