TURTLE CAKE 
1 box German chocolate cake mix
21 oz. pkg. caramels
1/2 c. butter
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Spread half of the batter in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Melt caramels with butter and vanilla. Pour over baked batter. Sprinkle chocolate chips and half of the nuts on top. Pour on the rest of the batter. Sprinkle with remaining nuts. Bake an additional 20 minutes.

TOPPING:

1/2 stick melted butter
2 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 box powdered sugar

Mix together and pour over warm cake.
