1 German chocolate cake mix
14 oz. bag caramels
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 stick butter
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chocolate chips
Cool Whip

Mix cake as you would normally do. Melt caramels, evaporated milk and 1 stick butter. Pour half of batter in 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Pour caramel mixture over cake, add 1 cup chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Pour rest of batter over and bake for 20 minutes more. Cool. Serve with Cool Whip scooped on each piece.
