RAW APPLE CAKE WITH CARAMEL
SAUCE
 
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. chopped raw apples, peeled
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
6 tbsp. water

CARAMEL SAUCE:

1 c. real butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. evaporated milk

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add dry ingredients, water, apples and nuts. Bake in greased pan for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Use 9 x 13 pan.

Sauce: Combine ingredients in saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Pour over warm cake and serve. Serves 15.
