BROWNIES 
5 lbs. sugar
2 lbs. shortening, melted
2 c. molasses
1 tbsp. vanilla
16 eggs, whole, beaten
1 c. water
4 c. cocoa
1/4 c. salt
3 qts. flour, sifted
6 c. nuts

Cream sugar, melted shortening, molasses, vanilla and beaten eggs. Add water and dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed to smooth dough.

Spread 1/2 inch deep in greased sheet pans. Bake 350 degrees F. approximately 25 minutes. Cut into bars 1x4 inches while still warm. Roll bars in powdered sugar if desired.

Note: 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups water or 2 cups of corn syrup may be substituted for molasses.
