1/2 c. shortening or oil
2 c. all-purpose sifted flour
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients well, mix on high 3 minutes. Pour into an 11 inch sheet cake pan (greased and lightly floured). Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until done. Ice!

CHOCOLATE ICING:

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, cocoa, milk and butter in 2 quart saucepan. Bring to a full boil, cook 1 minute. Remove from heat and set in cold pan of water. Add vanilla. Beat until spreading consistency.
