1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Using one bowl, beat ingredients until smooth. Grease and lightly flour 9 x 9 x 2 inch cake pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes - cool and frost with desired frosting.
