2/3 c. shortening
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. milk
2 eggs
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Put all ingredients in a bowl and beat with mixer until blended. Beat 2 minutes more. Pour into a greased 9x11 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts on top if you don't want to frost the cake. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
