KLAUSENBERGER SAUERKRAUT | |
2 cans sauerkraut 1 lb. ground pork 1 lb. ground beef 1 tbsp. shortening 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 lg. onion, minced 1 c. uncooked rice 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. water THICKENING: 1 tbsp. flour 1 c. milk 1 egg 2 tbsp. sour cream Brown meat and onions in shortening. Add rice and seasoning, mix well. Squeeze excess juice from kraut. Place a layer in baking dish. Add layer of meat and rice mixture. Alternate layers by ending with kraut on top. Add water. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Mix flour, eggs, milk and sour cream. Before removing kraut pour thickening over kraut and bake until golden brown. Serves 6 to 8. |
