Easy Sugar Cookies

 Misty (Arkansas) says:
I have tried much better sugar cookie recipes. I would definitely add vanilla or almond extract. I added sour cream to the recipe and it helped a little with the dryness. I think two eggs would also work better. I made these into cookie bars and they turned out like short bread. Will be very good with coffee! I sprinkled sugar on top of them.

I would add vanilla extract (recommended). Also use more than 1 egg, use 2. ;)

Forgot the salt, used just a little over 2 cups all purpose flour. Spooned grape jelly in the middle. Turned out very good. Would have used vanilla but did not have any.

I followed the recipe exactly and it tasted like play doh. No joke. I think it would have been better with vanilla but I'm not trying this recipe again.

Instead of using a glass use the palm of your hand, it works better in my opinion.

The only thing I wouldn't do with this recipe, is thinking it will get bigger. They don't rise or move or grow while they bake but otherwise I love this recipe.

This was absolutely terrible, I'm not usually a hater, but they were just simply terrible. My husband tried to "lie" to me saying "they're ok.." I told him I know they're nasty you won't hurt my feelings. He then admitted they were by far the worst cookies he's ever had. Lol! It's better to put in the extra time and ingredients, than to end up throwing away so many cookies because nobody will touch them.. Sorry to be brutally honest, I just don't want other to have this experience..

So good I baked just like the recipe says and added a egg and vanilla. Also I recommenced you to after finished the dough roll it in cinnamon and sugar mixed together then after baking sprinkle some of the cinnamon and sugar on top

I think these are really good, but don't add the extra egg or you will have to double everything. Also they take forever to make so make double pans in the oven if you need a lot in a small amount of time

 Geoff (California) replies:
If you double the other ingredients you haven't added an extra egg. The point of adding more egg is It improves the final product according to most commenters. They also cook in 10 to 12 minutes at 350°F. Maybe check your oven's thermostat?
