Easy Sugar Cookies

I found this recipe okay. The dough was extremely sticky even after I added quite a bit of flour. I could hardly get the dough to stop sticking to my hands to get it on the pan! I frosted them with cream cheese frosting and without it I am afraid they might not have been near as good.

I prepared half the recipe; all portions remained the same but i did keep it at 1 egg. I added 1 tsp almond extract and baked at 12 minutes. perfection!

Emily (Illinois),

Here's a tip! Wait to add about 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract until almost the end of the mixing. It will add liquid when dough begins to get dry.

Also, I cut the recipe in half but kept the one egg. I added a bit more sugar and it was very good! I made that batch for my husband and I and made a second, extra sweet, batch for the kids. I added more sugar and kneaded colored sugar sprinkles into the dough. Also I rimmed the glass with a mixture of colored sugar and regular sugar. It was very good. Quite practical for an adult with a sweet tooth. And, of course, the little ones!!

Let me know if the recipe works for you Emily or anyone else who tries my tricks. Thanks!

Just made these, halved the recipe but kept 1 egg, added vanilla, and topped with light brown sugar instead of white. Baked for 13 minutes. They came out kind of spongy.. almost like cake or bread?? Still pretty tasty but kind of an odd texture.

I love this recipe! My 11 year-old daughter was making it with her 6 year-old sister by the time I got home from running a couple errands. I found it delicious and so easy to make! My whole family enjoyed it!

I used 2 eggs, it was too dry without it. I also added 1/2 of Vanilla Extract. I also used whole wheat flour. They came out ok.

We added 2 eggs instead of just the 1. Going in the oven currently :)

I made these and they were GREAT!! But my dough was rather sticky. So i added more, since flour absorbs moisture, and the cookies came out real tough, good, but tough...
